This edition of Boehm's writings in translation marks an important chapter in the English reception of Boehm's writings. A German mystic and self-taught theologian, he believed that humanity had fallen from a state of divine grace to its present state of sin and suffering, that the forces of evil included fallen angels who had rebelled against God. On these points he is consistent with Lutheran Theology. Boehme believed, however, that the fall from grace was a necessary stage in the evolution of the universe. It was necessary for humanity to depart from God in order initiate an evolution toward a new state of redeemed harmony that would be more perfect than the original state of innocence. God would thus achieve a new self-awareness by interacting with a creation that was both part of, and distinct from, Himself. OCLC locates 32 copies.
