Verkauft wird ein Konvolut von ca. 30 spanischen Fachbüchern zu Sprache Spanisch, besonders Argot. Der Bestand entstammt dem Nachlass eines fanatischen Sammlers. Er kaufte die Titel teils in Antiquariaten (die Bücher sind denn großteils gebraucht und deshalb mit den üblichen Spuren versehen: Teils berieben, lichtrandig, Besitzervermerk, mit Buchhandelsaufklebern, fleckig o.ä., teils aber auch schön erhalten), teils aber auch in regulären Buchhandlungen (leicht berieben, oft Besitzervermerk, sonst gut erhalten und meist ungelesen). Die meisten Bücher des Konvoluts sind gebunden, einige aber auch kartoniert/Taschenbuch. Alle Bücher in spanischer Sprache. Die meisten Titel zur Umgangssprache datieren auf die Jahre 1995-2002, enthalten also fast noch den Wissenstand der Gegenwart - was bei Argot-Wörterbüchern von entscheidender Wichtigkeit ist, will man sich nicht beim blamieren beim Versuch, besonders "einheimisch" zu wirken. Drab black cloth-backed printed green boaards with black front lettering and olive-gray endpapers. Minor staining to the boards, a very good copy. Uncommon. The second dictionary of Spanish synonyms, preceded by Jose Lopez de la Huerta's 1828 _Breve diccionario de sinonimos ..._ Olive's dictionary was first published immediately after Penalver & Olive's 1842-43 _Panlexico: diccionario universal de la lengua castellana_. Comprehensive, deluxe dictionary of Castilian Spanish produced by the Royal Spanish Academy as its 14th edition. This copy was once in the library of St. John's seminary in Camarillo, California, and after being de-accessioned was in the library of a private individual whose name is written on a blank endpaper. St. John's seminary is an important Catholic institution in Spanish influenced Southern California, and the late Estelle Doheny, a noted book collector, deposited her famous collection there many years ago. Her collection was later put up for sale in an auction that gained world-wide attention. It is not known if this large, impressive dictionary was part of that auction. The leather of this volume is well worn at the edges and joints, and the spine with four slightly raised bands is scuffed but with gilt titles still readable. Library tag was removed from bottom of spine, leaving trace but blending in quite well with the overall look of the spine. Hinges have been professionally reinforced with tape. Another tape mend to gutter following title page. Top right corner missing from title page, but no printed matter affected. Old library number written on title page, and embossed stamp of the seminary is at bottom of title page. Binding is tight and functional, and contents are nicely clean, though paper is browning a bit. There is a gutter separation between last page of preliminaries and first page of dictionary, which might call for another tape mending, though the strings are holding. When laid flat, which does not put stress on the binding, the break is not noticeable. This book is a great tool for the student of the Spanish language. Words of Arabic derivation show the original spellings in the Arabic alphabet. Please note price includes adjustment for overweight shipping.
