Cloth.*The Beck collection is one of the most refined and important private libraries of illuminated manuscripts assembled in the second half of the twentieth century. The collection is not unusually large - hardly more than thirty items - but is quite extraordinary in its range and quality. It includes manuscripts from eleven countries. it extends from early eight-century Merovingian France to the Florentine Renaissance and beyond. It includes two books of the ninth century, possible the oldest western manuscripts which could ever again be offered for sale. The texts represented are remarkably varied too (religious and secular texts). Beautiful book.
